Piero Bellizzi of the FC Westchester ’89 Boys, a freshmen at Northwestern University, has been named to Soccer America’s All-Freshman 1st team.

Earlier, Bellizzi was honored as the Big Ten Conference’s Freshman-of-the-Year.  Bellizzi was also voted as a unanimous selection to the Big 10 All-Freshman Team and he was also named the All Big Ten second team.

According to Northwestern, Bellizzi has had a huge impact in his freshman season, ranking second among the nation’s freshmen with eight assists, a total that leads Northwestern. He was third on the squad with four goals and was second with 16 points. Bellizzi’s top performance came in a Sept. 23 win at No. 19 Ohio State when he scored two goals and had an assist. He also had the game-winning goal in a victory over No. 16 Michigan State Oct. 28.
