The FC Westchester U18 team clinched a spot in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs with a 1-1 tie Wednesday night against Albertson in a game played at Mitchell Field.

Albertson scored first about eight minutes into the match, but then FC Westchester evened the score in the 44th minute when Brian "Cobi" Span served a strong corner into the box that was headed in by FCW’s Stephen Reisert.

FC Westchester then played a tight defense in the second half to hold onto the tie and a place in the U.S. Soccer Development playoffs to be held June 25-29 in Greensboro, N.C.

The FC Westchester U16s take on Albertson Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Tully Park.
