FC Westchester U18s Beat BW Gottschee 4-0 in U.S. Soccer Development Academy Match; U16s Lose Close Match 2-1

The FC Westchester U18 team got two goals in each half to defeat BW Gottschee Sunday in a U.S. Soccer Academy match played at Aviator Field in Brooklyn. In the U16 match, Gottschee downed FC Westchester 2-1.

In the U18 match, FC Westchester opened the scoring on a goal from Brian "Cobi" Span and then got another about 10 minutes later when Manny Calixto scored off an Hiroki Kobayashi assist.

In the second half, Span got on the board again -- his third two-goal game in a row -- not long into the half and then Keith Francisco closed out the scoring for FCW to make the final 4-0.

In the U16 match, FC Westchester scored in the sixth minute when Cesar Ceja took a pass from Gabe Stauber, but then Gottschee scored in the 10th minute and 20th minute to take a 2-1 lead that stood up for the rest of the closely played match.

Both FC Westchester's Academy teams play midweek against PDA this coming week. The U16s play at 8 p.m. match at PDA Wednesday, while the U18s play at PDA at 8 p.m. Thursday.
